From image to image: Beyond AI productivity — Tools, techniques and perspectives
Trainer: Thomas Balaban, architect, founding partner of TBA and associate professor at the Université de Montréal School of Architecture

This virtual training offers an in-depth exploration of the integration of generative technologies into design processes. This semi-practical session takes a detailed look at major language models and diffusion models, focusing on ubiquitous applications such as DALL-E and Midjourney, as well as more specialized tools such as ControlNet and LoRAs training.

Beyond their conventional use for information queries or task automation, the workshop focuses on two strategic axes: broadening creative horizons and strengthening collaboration between designers and these cutting-edge technologies. Rooted in current design practices, this course, accessible to all levels of experience, aims to offer concrete strategies directly applicable to creative work.

Objectives and key learnings:

- Inspire reflection on the interplay between traditional approaches and digital tools in their own design process.
- Benefit from an overview of key tools such as Midjourney and DALL.E, as well as more advanced platforms such as Stable Diffusion, exploring their opportunities and limits.
- Gain a better understanding of how to leverage these tools and interact effectively with generative AI.

Installation by Double Entendre
